Basketball - Girls

The Pickens High School Dragonettes are a top high school girls basketball program in north Georgia.  The Dragonettes (Nettes for short) have enjoyed 45 winning seasons, 12 Region Championships, 30 State Playoff appearances,  7 Sweet Sixteens, 9 Elite Eights, 4 Final Fours, and 1 State Championship.  They currently have a streak of 9 winning seasons in a row.  The Nettes will compete in region 6-AAA in the 2025-2026 season.

Coach Jordan Shaw

Coach Shaw has coached boys and girls basketball for five seasons making the switch to girls basketball at Pickens High School in 2021. He began his coaching career while obtaining his master's from Carson Newman University. There he coached Division II football. After graduating he was fortunate to be able to come home and teach and coach in the community that helped shape the man he is today.

Coach Shaw and his wife, Kadie, both have deep roots in Pickens County. They love our town and look forward to serving the community for years to come.

Coach Brad Steinhauer

Assistant Coach Brad Steinhauer

Coach Steinhauer is entering his 17th season as a coach in the Pickens County School System. He is currently the assistant girls basketball coach at PHS and the head soccer coach at PJHS.  Coach Steinhauer has also served as the head boys varsity coach at Pickens High School as well as the men’s assistant basketball coach at Berry College.  Coach Steinhauer and his wife Eileen have been married for 23 years and have two daughters, Emery and Ellison.

Lowry

Assistant Anna Lowry

Coach Lowry is new this year to PHS. She is entering her 7th year of coaching basketball. She is coming to Pickens High School from Cherokee County where she was most recently the head boys 8th grade coach. She has coached both boys and girls teams and really enjoys the differences in the game at both the school and AAU level. 

She attended the University of Tennessee where she was a Lady Vol rower, and it was at UT that she met her husband. Together they have 5 children and are enjoying life as a busy, sport-loving family. 

Recently Coach Lowry completed her masters in Kinesiology and Sport Coaching and she is excited for this basketball season to get started. She loves the energy she feels in Pickens County, and she cannot wait to really become involved in the community

PJHS Girls Basketball

The Pickens Junior High School Dragonettes are a 6th, 7th and 8th grade basketball program. At PJHS, the Dragonettes look to further their skills and knowledge in preparation for high school basketball. Through fast-paced practices and competitive games, the Dragonettes demonstrate their dedication, teamwork, and passion for the sport, striving for excellence on and off the court. The tradition starts here!

Coach Torie Sutton

As a Nettes basketball alumni and coach, Coach Sutton brings energy and enthusiasm to the program. She holds the tradition of Nettes basketball close to her heart and looks forward to serving the program, school system, and community that built her.  Alongside coaching, she has taught ELA for 2 years at Jasper Middle School while pursuing her Master’s Degree in Middle Grades ELA. Coach Sutton now teaches 8th grade ELA at PJHS.

Coach Sutton and her husband, Chandler, look forward to serving the student athletes and community of Pickens County for many years to come! 

Farmer Family

Coach Lindsey Farmer

Coach Farmer is a Pickens High alum that played basketball at Young Harris College before transferring to the University of North Georgia to finish her degree. 

Over the last 10 years, she has led or assisted in basketball, softball, volleyball and track and field at the middle school level.

Coach Farmer, her husband Jonathan, and their children Deacon and Deana Jo are happy to serve this community and the Nettes Basketball Program.
