Swim

The PHS Swim Team is proud to embark on its 11th season this fall for the 2026–27 school year!

In addition to our high school team, PHS Swim also offers a Middle School/Junior High team for 6th–8th grade swimmers, giving younger athletes the opportunity to develop their skills and experience competitive swimming.

Although PHS competes in Class 3A, our swimmers regularly face strong competition from schools across North Georgia, including many 5A and 6A programs. Competing against larger schools provides our athletes with valuable experience and opportunities to challenge themselves at a high level.

The 2025–26 season was one to remember!

At the Regionals Meet, the Pickens boys team finished 3rd, while the girls team placed 5th, resulting in a 3rd-place overall team finish. PHS was also the highest-placing 3A school at the meet.

We were especially proud of Savannah Retford, who earned the title of Region Champion in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

The 2025–26 season also featured a particularly strong boys team. Their success helped propel PHS to overall team victories at three separate meets throughout the season.

With an accomplished season behind us and our 11th season ahead, PHS Swim is excited to continue building a competitive, supportive, and successful program for swimmers of all experience levels.

Coach Melissa Bramlett

Melissa Bramlett was born and raised in Blue Ridge, GA but moved to Jasper shortly after graduating from University of North Georgia and getting married.  She received her Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from North Georgia College and worked in the field of Manufacturing Accounting for 18 years before going back to school to obtain her Masters in Teaching from Reinhardt University.  Melissa spent her first 5 years at Jasper Middle School and made the transition to High School in the 2023-2024 school year.  She is a Special Education Teacher and took the reins of the Swim Team in 2021.

Melissa was a trained LifeGuard in her teen years and grew up spending her summer days at the pool.  Both of her daughters began swimming at an early age and began competing at 6 years old.  Having spent a lot of time around the Summer Swim Program with her girls, and the PHS Swim program as a parent, when the opportunity presented itself to step into the Coaching role, she did just that.
