Mrs. Sutton’s ELA classes took learning outside on Friday, enjoying the beautiful day ☀️📚
They spent time in the courtyard engaged in PALS (Peer Assisted Learning Strategy) reading while diving into Flowers for Algernon. Through intentional close reading, students analyzed the text on a deeper level, made thoughtful and evidence-based predictions, and examined character development as Charlie’s journey unfolds.
Love seeing this level of engagement, collaboration, and academic growth! 💚

PJ Flame, Issue 10: Bullying is Not Okay by Brooklyn R.
Imagine this, you just bought new shoes. You are so excited to show them off at school, but when you get to school, some girl calls them kiddish. You never wear those shoes again. That is what we call bullying. Small acts or comments can make someone’s vision of themselves change greatly. Everyone is equal. No matter what they wear, how they act, how they speak or look. Treat others with respect. Bullying is a big problem with all schools, not just PJHS. But on the bright side, the one best thing that can achieve the removal of bullying is kindness. It is a simple act of human generosity. Kindness will always overrule bullying. Be kind, choose to stick up and take the stand for others when they can't. Say something; use your voice. Let’s make our school a place where everyone feels accepted and respected.
“Courage is fire, and bullying is smoke." by Benjamin Disraeli Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

🏀 March Madness: Mentor Edition! 🏀
This March, we’re celebrating the power of mentorship through Sources of Strength! Our mentors are trusted adults in the school who students can turn to for guidance, encouragement, and support. Whether it’s helping a student navigate challenges, celebrating successes, or simply being a consistent, caring presence—mentors make a lasting impact.
Just like in March Madness, every student needs a strong team behind them. Our mentors help students build resilience, connection, and confidence both in and out of the classroom. 💚
Over the next few days, be on the lookout for our Top 8 Mentors that have been selected by our students. These mentors will be paired with students to compete in minute to win it games on March 27th!
